Another great example of Napa Valley Merlot at its best. Great red fruit, vanilla and nutmeg hints on the nose. Lots of blueberry, raspberry, chocolate covered cherries and baking spices on the palate. Very well integrated with tannins that are ripe but not over-powering. I love their Merlot and only wish they made more of it. — 9 years ago
The nose is a nice blend of chocolate covered raisins, black cherry, vanilla, black raspberry and blackberries. The nose is confirmed on the palette, but in a dry, pleasant way. Not a fruit bomb, nice touch of earth. — 10 years ago

Not a bad way to start my Wednesday. Country Vintner tasting at Charleston Grill. Aromatic and perfumed nose of earth-covered mushrooms and red fruit. This wine is still so young and tight though, but I would love to revisit this vintage in a decade or two. I couldn't stop smelling it. — 10 years ago
2005 - headed more towards modern style Rioja smelling of cherry, vanilla, blackberry, oak, tobacco, and cloves. Flavors are big and bold enclosed in subtle but thorough tannins: chocolate-covered cherries, tobacco, leather, cedar box, and hints of dill. — 10 years ago
Nose of spiced fruit cake and balsam. Dark chocolate covered cherries palate which are still a bit tight. Finish has bright mineral and crushed rocks. I think this is in a bit of an awkward phase. My hunch is this just needs some of the tannins to mellow a touch and secondary Flavors to emerge to become a classic wine. — 10 years ago
A very green wine, with white pepper written all over it. 12% of the Savoie is covered in this varietal known as Mondeuse (1 of 23 varietals?). My kind of wine! — 12 years ago
