Never heard of this grape. Very nice heavy body. Apricot? Mandarin? Enjoyed the wine. — 8 years ago
Cigales has been a grape growing area for centuries but in recent times production has been on the decline, and winery was bought in the late 1990’s by the El Coto group. Grapes from low yielding 100% Tempranillo vines, in excess of 70 years old. Aged for 24 months in 3-year old French oak, deep Ruby with berry fruit aromas and gentle spice. On the palate blackberry and blueberry flavors and leather and licorice notes, smooth tannins on a lingering finish ending with oak and mineral tones. — 8 years ago

These are the kind of wines that Spain is showing to the World... A 100% Souson from Rías Baixas, the power of galician reds... — 10 years ago

Only half american oak and it shows. Less vanilla than el coto but still there. More complexity. I like it. (Goes well with sweet potatoes. — 8 years ago
Dry, well balanced and good crisp aftertaste — 9 years ago
This 40 year old wine maintained it's youthful fruitiness with sharp acidity, bright cherry with smooth finish. Still bright ruby color. Delightful! — 9 years ago
Rondo Esp - dinner at hotel! Goes so well with the local oxtail! — 10 years ago
What a surprise! Beautiful Pedral red rare wine from Rias Baixas! Something unique, roses, red fresh fruits, lot of minerals... — 10 years ago
Dark fruits up front. Some earth. Falls a little short on the finish, just a tad too quick. But a very nice wine. Like it plenty, but a little pricey. — 11 years ago
Beautiful nose, fruity, floral, very expressive. Fresh, crispy, fizzy. Lovely! — 11 years ago
A few years ago Spanish wine was a total bargain. Then they figured out they could send us junk. I stopped buying. But in desperation recently I got this and was surprised. Really pretty good and both varietals are very present. Even better after a day, showing some interesting depth. Maybe cheapie Spanish wines are back to being bargains. — 7 years ago
Like Vino Verde without bubbles. Crisp, refreshing, light, citrus, grapefruit, peaches, lemon. Opens well with a dry finish. Wonderful perfume. Great easy drinker. — 8 years ago

Lemon peel vapours with white flowers on the nose. Front of mouth is diaphanous white flower and delicate lemon. It transitions to an equally subtle white peach with a good seam/backbone of lemon rind to earth the finish with a decent length. — 11 years ago
Smooth, full bodied - excellent on its own — 12 years ago

Vanilla, cinnamon, violet, canned cranberries, dried strawberries, blackberries, red licorice, touch of delicious animal funk
1973... Amazingly fresh. Great acid. Pretty. Floral. Orange-brick red. Cork came out beautifully with ah-so. So much more fruit and freshness than the 75 El Coto. No overwhelming oxidatio. What a treat. — 7 years ago
