This was flat out delicious: squid ink, opaque dense looking and tasting w/gobs of black fruit: blackberry, cherry & plum. baked quality to the fruit. Hints of Earth and a minerally Iodine but by & large fruit focused. Infinitely smooth & caressing - went down (dangerously) easy as we had to do a double take at the empty decanter! .2 bump for QPR! — 6 years ago

Online reviews for this Zin are 91-93. They also say Ancient Vines Zinfandel shows spicy, bright strawberry, with coffee and chocolate characters. Ripe fruit and soft tannins make this a mouth-coating rich vintage. And I agree. Like most reds, it has to breathe for 30-40 minutes. Hard to do. — 6 years ago

What austerity + power! This was moderately aromatic but the flavors have a great depth to them. Not showing in an "open" way, though, but delicious with cherry, spices cranberry jam, and some earth. Curious what more time would do! — 10 years ago

Lavender, blackberry and a little funk in nose in initial pour. Dense ruby red. Light body, slight skin astringency finish. Needs some time to open. Fairly tart. Raspberry flavor emerges first, then cherry. 24 hours later, fresh table grape character and seed tannins predominate. This is a solid light tasting table red with plenty of tannins for aging. I do find I miss the Zinfandel portion from earlier vintages but get more bottles of these and the style will grow on you — 2 years ago
