Second vintage of Ruston Family La Maestra Cabernet Sauvignon for us, not as expressive on the nose as the 2008 but with some more aged characteristics to it. Deep ruby red with a slight garnet edge. Lots of sweet spices and dark berries on the nose. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium to medium plus bodied. Layered palate with a spice kick to start, some earthy characteristics and dark berries. A little damp showing the age as well as some dark cocoa, dark gravel and iron too. Medium plus length finish. Needed around 30 minutes to open up but then started aging quite rapidly. Drink till 2018. — 8 years ago

Big Nerello with tannic structure. Red fruit with smoke and earth. Delicious. — 4 years ago
Deep translucent ruby. Salty, smoky nose with strong iron/blood notes. Medium bodied with very nice grip. Pure red fruit. Good length. Clean and fresh and juicy. Balanced. Not as good as Etna pt 1 but still, love this style — 6 years ago
Berries on the breeze mixed with volcanic funk. A wine of unparalleled excellence. Thanks for the gift. @Kyle Harvey @Ted Corvey — 8 years ago

Very bright and precise. I just love the high altitude Etna. Red fruit and good acid. Needed a couple hours to show its best. — 7 years ago
Nose of black cherry and pine straw. On the palate the flavors are the same, with great depth, structure, and length. This has a gravity that goes beyond most any Etna Rosso I’ve tasted. Phenomenal, and has years if not decades ahead of it... — 8 years ago

Agree with @Chris MacLean : peppery. I’ve not had many wines like this, and loved the expansion of my experience. — 3 years ago
