A captivating display of blackberry, plum, grilled herbs, cedar dust and balsamic spice wafts up from the 2016 Mille e una Notte. It’s silky in texture and polished in feel, offering ripe black fruits lifted by cooling minerality. This remains tightly wound up in its youthful state, as a fine coating of sweet tannin settles in to create a structured finale, with pretty purple-tinged florals and hints of licorice lingering long. The 2016 may be one of the most refined expressions of Mille e Una Notte that I’ve ever tasted, but it will need some time to show its best. This is composed primarily of Nero D'Avola, Petit Verdot and Syrah, which is expertly refined in new barriques for 14 months. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2021)

This 2018 #pinotgrigio is just as sophisticated as the 2015 I drank a few years ago. Citrus, green orchard fruit, wet stone aromas with slight white flower undertones, a fleshier weight on the palate, mineral layers. Аромат напоминает Мерло, а вот вкус, уважаемые товарищи, это нечто!! По мне, сложный. Не скажу насчёт заявленной сливовости, разве что послевкусие, да и то, не слива, а, скорее, сливовое варенье. А вот специи на все лады: паприка, немного красного острого, немного табачное. По сахару, как будто, полусухое. В пользу этого - ощущение жжёного сахара во вкусе. Браво! — 6 years ago

Nose has ripe blueberries, ripe mulberries, crushed blackberries, lacquered wood, damp slate, overly humidified cigar and a touch of cedar.

Palate has blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry, dried cherry, graphite, iron and cigar ash. Tannins are medium, actually lighter than anticipated, and quite enjoyable. Lots to like on the nose and palate with this youthful Bordeaux.

45% Merlot / 42% Cabernet Sauvignon / 13% Cabernet Franc

Decanted 4H at the time of notes. Drink 2025-2038.

A second label from our favorite Left Bank producer, a wine I've been searching to find for many years and finally landed one in Chicago last year (2021).

Paired to Merlot steaks (Kinderhook Farm; Valatie, NY) and recently dug Carola potatoes from our garden tossed in butter and garden herbs, both finished with flakey Maldon salt. — 3 years ago
