Created in 1981, Terre Alte is considered one of Italy's most prestigious white wines, blend of Friulano, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon grapes, estate-grown at Rosazzo in the historic Terre Alte vineyards. Pale lemon yellow color with aromas of stone and tropical fruits and wonderful floral notes. On the palate flavors of apple, peach and slight lemon citrus with honey floral notes and lively acidity. 22/6/8-10 with scallop crudo, fresh homemade tagliolini al Portonat, frico, etc. side by side with the Gnemiz Sol, this was deeper, more spherical, and more complex. A pretty remarkable range of aromas - from classic Sauvignon scents to richer peach and nectarine, honey, mint, vanilla, cool stone, etc. The palate was very deep and richly satisfying while still being sprightly and drinkable, with tons of minerality that was somehow round rather than salty. This was one of the best young Sauvignon Blancs I’ve had, and I’d love to see it with some age. — 4 years ago
