Very young, this guy had some grip. It opened up after a day, but definitely will be nice down the road — 9 years ago

Very nice old world wine from Languedoc region. Very drinkable and a great price. — 11 years ago
Very smooth, velvety. Sherri, you'd like this one! It's a Trader joes find 😉 — 11 years ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2008 Special Club pours a straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing and somewhat shy but there’s citrus, white peach, brioche and a rather fascinating smell that reminded me of a built-up roof. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose however here, it’s much richer and expansive. The finish is long. Young? Probably. Drink now through 2038. No disgorgement data. — 9 months ago

Sofia loved Penguins. We played w/ them in Dubai and she also skied indoor while I had a spot of Champagne and watched from a very big window. Only in Dubai. They have to build things of that nature…cus w/o them…just a bunch of sand. — a year ago
Bandol: pink or white.
It’s a slight culture shock as a moron gringo in the South of France when wines by the glass are identified not by producer or even by grape but simply by place. Bandol didn’t mean much to me as a place, I drove through it en route to Toulon from Marseille but that was about it. Probably it was the fact that it was a vague homonym for bandit drew me to it — which is admittedly kind of lame, but the wine seemed to deliver. Any more than the progeny of any other Mediterranean town would have? Je ne sais pas. But this wine right here is a phenomenal rosé.

This was a monster out of the gate and held its own. Really impressed. Shows age but not softness. Elegant, open, beeswaxy, beautiful — 11 years ago

Brotte Barville La Fiole Vintage Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2010, France
#AgedWineTuesday
Pretty color of light ruby with a light brick rim.
On the nose prunes, raisins and fresh red berries.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with red cherries, currants, light wood, spices, dark chocolates, tobacco leaf, herbs, light earth and peppercorn.
This 15-year-old red blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape feels very young, especially right out of the bottle, with lots of acidity to carry it much further. Complex and interesting. Elegant and rich.
An interesting wine with port-like aromas on the nose and feels very fresh on the palate.
Still young and needs a few hours to open up properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.
Delicious by itself as a sipping wine and good with food too.
A blend of mostly Grenache with Mourvedre, Syrah, Cinsault and 4 other local Varietals. Aged in French oak barrels for 10 years. A tiny production of only 900 bottles made.
15% alcohol by volume.
92 points.
