Very nice- cedar, earthy, blackberries — 3 years ago
Clear, deep ruby colour. Clean, pronounced black fruits. Dry, high acidity and tannins beautifully balanced. Full bodied with flavours of blackberries, vanilla, toast. Very good quality and a fantastic accompaniment to the Chateaubriand. A really good birthday dinner. — 6 years ago
Typical powerful balanced grand cru classes from Margaux Cantenac. Not the best year or blend that this fine house has produced. Still ... it's a very nice blend... a bit heavier and not as round as I expected. — 8 years ago
I'm always going to rate Broman higher than most people will say it deserves, but it's a great wine at a great price made by great people. And that's part of the magic of wine. This is the second of two bottles we brought home from a visit with the owners. The first bottle we drank a few months ago, and it seemed middle aged with plenty of fruit. This bottle was more austere and showed much less fruit. This reminded me of a 30 year old Brane Cantenac we had 10 years ago. — 8 years ago
Of the 2 Bordeaux drinking the best tonight, but long term the Brane-Cantenac 2005 will outlive this wine by 10 years easy. While very complex, a fine touch a green is traceable.
A classic currant and forest floor nose, fall leaves abound with a spike of spice and a barely there green that while subtle is apparent.
The pleasure here is higher for its more mature tasted and feel, while the brawny 2005 is a better wine it was not as enjoyable to me and feel it will be another notch enter in 3 years, and likely 2 notches better in 5.
The elegance and feel on this wine is ready to go and will easily go another 5+ years. — 9 years ago

Dark garnet color with a wide brim and just a touch of bricking, nothing serious at all. The nose is still kicking at this mature age with a ton of earth notes. Mushrooms and wet moss. Old leather and fresh underbrush. Things are a bit more muted on day two but the fruit does come to play a little. Plums and blackberries mainly with just a little nip of cherry.
You always wonder about these birth year wines as you get older and older and older but I instantly had no doubts about this baby and did it ever deliver. Plenty of nice depth and kept its structure well on day two. The palate was lovely with a nice combination of refinement and rusticity. The streak of mild spice that showed was quite welcome and brings it all home. Terrific stuff. A fantastic aged Bordeaux.

Troisième Cru Classé in 1855. Cantenac-Margaux. Thursday 9th July 2015 at The Connaught hotel. One of Palmer's best vintages over the past 35 years. It is still at its peak without any sign that it is starting to fade. — 10 years ago

The follow up to the 03 Brane-Cantenac. So good but still youthful now as I mentioned this 97 still is in @Paul T- Huntington Beach recent post of his 2013.
The tannins are round, softened but still meaty & somewhat tarry.
The nose is still brooding. Ripe lush, ruby, fruits of, blackberries, black plum, black raspberries, dark cherries, baked to poached strawberries. Dark, rich, sweet forest floor, mix of Indian & Asian spice with palate piercing heat, notes of Cognac, steeped tea, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, black licorice, tarry notes, day crushed rocks, limestone minerals, grey volcanic minerals, light tobacco with ash, used leather, sandalwood, bright, fresh; dark, red, blue florals with violets.

If you are 15-20 years plus patient w/ these bottling’s, they are one of the very best values in Napa Valley. — a year ago
