Plummy, chocolate-y, blackberry-bone broth, mint, cast iron in an oven, pumpernickel aromas. Caraway, graphite, black mushroom, burnt beef tips, rose stem, black, burnt cherry. black currant, pepper. Deep well of shadows that fall from big oak trees across climbing black berries. This is a decidedly rich bridge between disparate styles, and the bridge is made of iron. — 10 years ago

Enjoying a BBQ after a day rock climbing with the family. Spiced plum jam in a glass, not particularly complex but the enjoyment doesn't suffer from it. Excellent. — 10 years ago
Great Grenache. This wine keeps climbing the ladder. It's showing pure red fruits and garrigue. This is wonderfully balanced. Chapeau Amy and Matt. — 11 years ago

post climbing with Mike and Laura - second bottle — 13 years ago
Perfectly integrated, well-ahead of the 1999 (still disjointed a few months ago). Supple, not powerful. Just an absolute pleasure. Red cherries, dried strawberries, rye, subdued tamari with slight balsamic prickle, browned liquorice. This isn't arresting as the '95, but rather it's a quieter, equally thoughtful companion. Effortlessly transportive. With it's constant shifting and ease, it makes me think of friendships. Of the people I've met and the conversations I've loved. Of my friend, Tim, who shared the bottle with me. Of friendships born out of music, climbing, work, school, wine - friendships that transcended the genre in which they emerged.
I wouldn't change anything about this wine. — 10 years ago
2004: Lively lemon lime on entry. Later, a hint of pithy wood. Low dosage of 1.5gr. Broad on the palate after the initial flash of acidity. Still climbing the ladder. — 10 years ago
Still primary and tight but showing potential. Reflective of the vintage, a green streak, grainy tannins and finally weak midpalate prevents it from climbing great heights. — 11 years ago

This is climbing right now. Impressive concentration, finesse and balance at 13% abv. This goes to show the greatness of the 05' vintage and of this chateau. Mint, cassis, currants, superb. — 12 years ago
Great nose, with a palate of fruit flavors, oak, and a finish of balanced acid! — 13 years ago
