Another pinot nero from Ciro at Le Volpe e l’uva...and another winner. Has more depth to the palate than previous ones we’ve had from the latest shipment, this went amazingly well with Vanessa’s turkey bolognese over fresh egg fettucini. Yum. — 5 years ago

Crazy pulpy light red ciro but big firm backbone of tannin that catches you off guard — 11 years ago
Really fun to experience a rose’ from the ‘ball’ of Italy’s foot, Ciro’ ! Presented a light crisp wine with floral notes and a quick, dry finish. — 5 years ago

Yet another winner from Ciro at Le Volpe e l’uva, this is a pinot nero from Tuscany (as opposed to Sudtriol, which is where I usually expect to find these). Just a terrific wine with a nose reminiscent of sour cherry with hints of leather, tobacco, and spice (nutmeg?). Beautifully balanced on the palate, with enough acidity for it to keep up with dinner (lemon and ricotta ravioli with a tomato-based pumpkin-chipotle sauce) but not so much that you can’t thoroughly enjoy it on its own. Really terrific. — 5 years ago
French oak. Smells like my grandma's toaster and she stuck a mixed berry Jane in and it was burnt. High acid, medium heavy body, bold oak that still gives you that kinda low sugar berry pie that's been in the oven for a bit longer than needed with muted fruit and a meatier kinda body. Fun wine. But get it with some food. — 9 years ago
I've seen bad reviews from people on this wine but I quite enjoyed it. Slight skin contact and time in barrel. There version of a white burgundy is what Ciro said. I work mainly with Italian wine and for me this was quite separate from the rest of Italy in a really good way. I felt the wine to be unique and complex and highly recommend it. — 10 years ago
Great fiano from lago vineyard. An honest version of this campanian variety, reminiscent of those from the great CIRO PICARIELLO — 10 years ago
