One of the better chards I've had from John Hilliard's winery along Route 246 near Lompoc, this has improved considerably with a few years in bottle. Still a bit more oak than is my preference, the wine nevertheless exhibits great balance with classic chardonnary aromatics, a medium-plus bodied mouthfeel, and a lingering finish. I still think his Venus bottlings are better expressions of chardonnay, but this one at ~5 years is drinking well! — 8 years ago
Dig it. Bright, mildly tannic, fresh. — 8 years ago
Pretty large but has the acid to back it up. Still drinking great. — 9 years ago
Nice and peppery chairmans select for )13.99 & better than the Buried Cane for the same price — 9 years ago
Dessert tonight. Was chasing what I had a few weeks ago at our Realm tasting with Juan. This was a step behind the last time but still awesome. Deep dark and multi dimensional. The 12 is even better but this is oh so good. For my palette better than the to kalon and Dr Crane. — 9 years ago

I throughly enjoyed this cider fermented with their own pomace plus la garagista's wine, my personal favorite winery in Vermont at the moment . I think it's a great cider that is not too sweet & has enough acid and tannins to pair it with a nice pork dish meal. — 5 years ago

This is the standard on which all other barrel aged gins should be judged. By far the best I've ever had. — 8 years ago
In my surf publishing days, we did an issue of Bodyboarding Magazine with a main line for the cover story of "Chasing Perfect". I didn't much like the phrasing, in regards to a group of shredders traversing the Mentawai Islands, but our publisher was all about it and it worked out well in the end. Drinking this tonight, the phrase came to mind out of nowhere, probably because Font du Loup captured it in 2012. — 9 years ago
Sweet notes
Well melded tannins, red fruit and black fruit
Bit of spice
Third Meritage wine in the Hanukkah celebration.
Might have commanded an even better score but it was chasing the Dominus and the Les Pavots
Glad I own two more

Tasted tonight with miso-tamari marinated steak dinner and side of sautéed onions and mushrooms, overlooking NYC sky line.
yummy, smooth ‘n easy. Take a sip, breathe in, and realize there’s peppercorn character chasing the fruit. Enough acidity to keep everything in balance. — 5 years ago
