Baked cherry pie, cranberries, sour cherries, smoke. A bit fruit forward but bright tangy acidity balances the palate. Good with anything tomato & basil. — 8 years ago
Plum with a little pepper - great with charcuterie! — 8 years ago

Wines for Big Sur trip with my girlfriend. All will be enjoyed from a campsite on a cliff above Pacific Ocean :) — 11 years ago
Oooooohhhh. Didn't know charbono but... Now I...know (no).
😩
Super delicious though. Soft, chocolatey, blueberry. — 5 years ago
Chocolate and cherry on the nose, lots of depth both in the glass and in this poetry reading @amysaulderby #wizardtower — 6 years ago
Brought back from Napa and pairing with dark chocolate. — 7 years ago
Deep garnet hue showing very well. Bouquet springs forward with bing cherries and elegant structure. Red fruits wrapped in delicate but prominent earthy and smoky hints. And it keeps going! The finish is long with anise notes coming to life then ending in a classic old world balance. This one might be peaking for many years. Excellent framed acidity. — 7 years ago
Nutmeg, burnt cinnamon, sweet red pepper, currant jam. Steak and blue cheese wine. — 8 years ago
First ever Charbono and still figuring out the best way to classify and remember it. A definite smooth finish but still medium to medium high tannins, which can easily be from a young wine. Flavors on the nose were not as complex as I expected but definitely complex on the palate - but of cherry, leather, smoke and dark berries. — 8 years ago
Spiced plum, fruit leather, and black licorice. — 9 years ago
Really nice and tons of layers. — 9 years ago
Great charbono, 13.9% alcohol with great balance. Somehow they kept the tannins in check, this went great with prime sirloin steaks on the grill. — 10 years ago
Blackberry, cherry, raspberry preserves, smoke, vanilla tobacco and oak. Good structure and soft tannins. — 5 years ago
Deep dense fruit with little acidity, quite an interesting bottle and unique grape. Worth a try for something different. — 6 years ago
Turley made this wine from 1994-2010 and to me it was always the benchmark for the varietal during that era. The 13.9% alcohol was probably the lowest in Turley's lineup back in 2002. Their Charbono has always been a sneaky good ager and this is no exception. Probably already on a slow decline now I wouldn't hold on to these much longer. The Tofanelli family now keeps their own fruit. I'll have to try their version one of these days. — 7 years ago
My first Charbono. I've waited all this time. It was well worth the wait. I'm blown away! #pearlwineco — 7 years ago
The nose grabs you with currant and spice. Woodsy — 8 years ago
First time I've had a charbono. I had good fruit and balance; good all by itself. Reminded me of another wine, but I couldn't place it. Have to get another to figure it out — 9 years ago
