Château Grand-Puy Ducasse ‘Prelude a Grand-Puy Ducasse’ Pauillac 2016: Full-bodied. Distinct medium-plus tannins. High acidity. Blackberry. Plum. Cassis. Vanilla. Earth. Oak. Long dry finish. Consisting of a fine mix of Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot, this blend hits all the right notes: elegant & smooth, rich & ripe. Bottom line, this is a beautiful, well-made wine. 1hr+ decant. Dark red color, almost purple. Nose contains cherries, dust, and even some of that fresh ocean/beach smell. Mix of Napa and Italian. Very tannic wine with decent texture. Cherries, smoke, and burnt wood on the palate. Medium finish. Excellent QPR at £25! — 5 years ago

Pretty color of ruby with a wide reddish rim.
Light nose and medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate and complex.
Showing red cherries, currants, black plums, light oak, spices, herbs, earth, chocolates, licorice and peppercorn.
Medium finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a very tasty Cabernet Sauvignon based blend from Pauillac. Spicy and fruity. Smooth and elegant, with good structure and balance.
This 10 year old still feels young, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years.

I had a few different vintages of this wine and it is very consistent, and much better with age.
Easy drinking and good by itself as a sipping wine. Will pair nicely with food too.
A blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot. Aged in (60% new) French Oak barrels for 18 months.

Blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon & 19% Merlot, aged in new oak. Deep Ruby color with aromas of ripe berry fruits and floral and earthy spice notes. On the palate flavors of blueberry, cherry and blackberry with licorice, tobacco and toasty oak notes. Long rich finish on soft juicy tannins, drinking well and still has room to age. Back @BalancesRestaurant - Lucerne. Yes, it is that good.
A little backstory on this 2nd wine of Clerc Milon. This was made by my friend Jean Danjoy. He was the Asst. Winemaker at Opus One for 10 years before making the decision to go back to Bordeaux to redesign the winemaking facilities at Clerc and making his first vintage, 2009. A grand Bordeaux vintage to make his first Clerc Milon. He now overseas all the Rothschild properties, including Mouton. He is uber talented and perhaps the nicest human being I have met. He is also the one that showed Sofia & I how to taste & judge vineyard fruit for harvest in 2012.
Jean decided to make this second wine primarily for restaurant lists.
The nose shows brilliant red & dark florals. Dark cherries, poached strawberries, blackberries, black currant core, black raspberries, pomegranate, oak barrel powder, some anise, black tea, gentle baking spices-clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanillin, caramel notes & dark chocolate, dark, rich, subtle earth, dark withering flowers.
You could make a case for rounding this up to 93.
The fruits are ripe…special. Even glorious. Very soft and rounded M-M+ tannins. Dark cherries, poached strawberries, blackberries, black currant core, black raspberries, pomegranate, oak barrel powder, some anise, black tea, cola, beautiful, round dark spice that long sets w/ the most gentle palate heat, gentle baking spices-clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanillin, caramel notes & dark chocolate, dark, rich, subtle earth, some fresh & dry tobacco, soft leather, very soft graphite, dark withering flowers. Excellent rainfall acidity with a well balanced, softly structured, elegant finish that last 80 seconds and lands on gentle dark spice, loamy earth and fruit.
