This is a great wine. Weightier than a typical rose, almost as heavy as a chard or viognier. The acid has mellowed in the bottle some, but there’s plenty of structure to let the flavors come through. 2017 vintage. A bit of a curiosity as this 4 hectares vineyard is situated on an island in the Ciron river. After years of abandonment it was bought and restaured by the Lamothe family (Château Haut-bergeron). 80% Sémillon and 20% Sauvignon blanc. More freshness compared to the 2016 vintage with ripe pineapple and flowers on the nose. Not especially profound but a very nice lightweight Sauternes with good acidity and good almondy length.
