Unique white wine that is incredibly versatile in pairings and offers elegance, floral notes, and atypical meatiness that remains undeniably quaffable making this wine a delicious and improbable contradiction. — 8 years ago
I have Soooo much love for 2012 Bordeaux! There is a lot of chiseled black fruit that dances on your tongue along with rich notes of licorice. A pop and pour for us this evening that of course gained complexity with air. No doubt contributions from the owners of Ch. Cheval Blanc and Biodynamic farming have benefited this property!
Goes beyond the labels of Merlot and Cabernet franc and results in a beautiful expression of 21st century Bordeaux! — 9 years ago
Surprisingly good. Chateau Chauvin is near Cheval Blanc, and this is from the famed 1982 vintage. But still, this was a producer that had essentially lost its way until the 90s. Well, apparently the 1982 vintage transcends those issues. A fine mature Bordeaux tasting of leather and tobacco. — 10 years ago

Domaine Guiraud les Gallimardes Blanc 2013: Grenache, Clairette, Roussanne and Bourboulenc. Friendly, floral, light acacia notes, lavander, gentle, maybe the most simplistic, a bit quiet of my tasting, a licorice touch on top. — 11 years ago
Thus was the wine of the night! After Mouton, Cheval Blanc and a great Ch du Pape the Amarone was my highlight. I guess there's no accounting for taste. — 12 years ago

Cheval des Andes tasting with their technical manager who is also an assistant winemaker. Tasted ‘05, ‘07, ‘14 and ‘15. Very cool story behind this winery (and its affiliation with Chateau Cheval Blanc).
This contained the largest percentage of Malbec they’ve ever used at 83%, rounded out by petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Decidedly darker and more dense on the mid palate than the ‘15. The texture was more plush and this seems to be open for business now...not sure it has the structure to hold as long as the ‘15. More plum, added black currant and licorice. — 7 years ago
I had a bottle of this wine a while ago and it was spectacular: 94pts. The second, which I drank a few weeks ago, was very good, but not as good as the first one, but still pretty decent: 90 pts. On average 92. A fine claret by the owners of Cheval Blanc. — 9 years ago
1988 vintage. At Cheval Blanc for dinner with Olivier for dinner. Medium ruby hue. Amazing nose - pencil sharpening, cedar, dark fresh plums. Black currant notes. Savoury. Smokey and earthy. On the palate, excellent electricity and tension - medium plus acidity, medium body and alcohol and great concentration. Huge finish. Very very good. Drink now until 2027. Interesting to drink alongside the Chevals. Much less muscle and more feminine. — 9 years ago
One of the best whites I have tried. Great aroma, lemon and apple notes without being dominated with acidic. Crisp, light, great extra cold. I would buy a case. Bought at #freshmarket — 10 years ago

2007 Petit Guiraud Sauternes. Excellent. — 13 years ago
Aromas of Tobacco and Cedar, a little manure and unfortunately a tiny amount of wet cardboard/cork taint. The 2004 was 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc so I presume this 2003 - a very warm year - was similar. Medium weight - more savoury than fruit driven at this age. Jancis Robinson had a tasting of 2003 Bordeaux a while ago and with a few exceptions said Drink Up. L’Evangile has 34 acres and is a neighbour of Cheval Blanc. Footnote: I notice the blend from Vinous was 79/21 Merlot/Cabernet Franc for 2003. — 7 years ago
Tasted blind. From a bottle that I’m told had a top shoulder fill. Reddish tawny color, translucent but with intensity. Port-like nose with notes of black cherries, plum, tan spices, molasses/brown sugar and some cranberry. Earthy and ethereal in the mouth. Intensively rich. Finish lasts forever. Guessed 47 Cheval Blanc. I’ve been fortunate to have this wine a few times now. It’s a freak of nature, which is very evident when sitting next to its 49 sibling. A top all time bottle for sure. — 8 years ago
Yes yes yes. I know I’m like a kid with a cup of hit chocolate, but I just love sweet wines. Hints of citrus. But if acid balances the sweetness really well. Paired best with bold blue cheese than more gentle flavors. — 8 years ago
Napa's answer to Cheval Blanc. Incredibly aromatic and the best domestic merlot/cab franc blend out there. Great job Lou! — 9 years ago

Reddish ruby with a little brown. Almost opaque. Pure nose of black cherry, mint, herbs, cola. Incredibly rich and round in the mouth. Long finish. Guessed old Heitz Martha's Vineyard. I think that's a complement to both. Opened 5 hrs in advance and then drunk over 4 more hours, this became more refined with time. Kind of angular versus the more opulent 45 Mouton. Parker's favorite wine the legendary 47 Cheval Blanc. What a treat to compare the two side by side. I think the 45 Mouton wins at the wire tho. — 10 years ago

This property is near Cheval Blanc, or so I am told:-) Beautiful nose of flowers, plummy flavors, and overall fresh quality with some hints of tasty oak. They like to say in Bordeaux that the worst thing about the 2006 is that it followed the 2005! — 12 years ago

Lemon in colour. Another stunningly good Semillon and non Hunter Valley @Ceccherini Cristiano from Kangaroo Island of all places which was recently badly damaged by bushfires. The Islander is owned by Jacques Lurton and family of Cheval Blanc, other right bank wineries and wineries around the world. This wine was more Bordeaux Blanc than Hunter Valley in style with perfectly judged oak giving the wine a rich texture and excellent mouthfeel. Peachy ripe fruit which is unusual for a Semillon. A stunner. — 6 years ago
