Another gift from a new Kentucky friend: fairly hi-octane mellowed by Port wine barrel aging, shows a darker amber color, mellow woody flavors, some spice, orange peel, vanilla, mocha, roasted chestnuts among other myriad notes. Out of the three Rye Whiskey samples that we tried this was my favorite. Keeping in mind that I was a "Rye Whiskey Virgin" until that night, so I'm no expert. But I do know what I like.
