Any wine that can shine from a plastic cup deserves extra kudos. Mistook for a Northern nebbiolo with its structure, detail, & balance, but the fruit is pure southern, pomegranate & black currants. A nice golden tint leads to aromatics that are fruity, laced with minerals. Apricots and lemon-lime give a much more forceful nose than I expect from a Pinot Grigio. The palate shows apples, citrus and minerals in a fresh display. The acidity is bright and zippy. — 9 years ago

A terrific wine recommended to us by Tony Sasa, owner of Enoteca Ponte Vecchio (best wine shop in Florence!). Has an intense but restrained nose of blue and black fruits. Was a bit closed on the palate at first - probably needs decanting or, better yet, a few more years in bottle - but once it opened up it was full-bodied, balanced, and not nearly as tannic as I was initially expecting. Great complement to our mushroom ravioli/tomato-sausage ragu dinner! — 8 years ago
