Deep rich flavour with a great mouth feel. Just under 7 yrs old but with the maturity of a 15-20 yr old crafted blind. Definite oak cast foundation with hints of cinnamon, dark chocolate, deep red fruits, and sweet tobacco flavours, all with a touch of the sea. As the label suggests, this deep and flavourful combo of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon (85/15 respectively) will beautifully compliment the deep flavour of any cream, broth, or tomato sauce based on the Maillard reaction (fond) of sautéed meats or vegetables. Highly recommend. — 10 years ago
The beautiful dark color matches the deep color perfectly. The nose presents cherry fruit with a hint of herbs. Typical cherry fruit on the palate with a nice finish hinting of the herbs noted in the aroma. Rocked with the home ground beef seasoned with salt, pepper and a generous portion of fresh chopped parsley which I scrambled in my cast iron skillet. Great wine for the price! — 11 years ago
A really great wine for the money. I could drink this a lot. Sweet merlot fruit, but with a supporting cast: nice tannin and leather. — 10 years ago
Had with Deb's famous braised chicken thighs and wild rice. Paired very well. — 10 years ago
This is delicious everyday Italian wine that loves tomato based sauces, and it was a success with Cinnamon's cast iron pizzas. The wine had a wonderful contrast between dark fruit and light body. I need more in the larder of this tasty weeknight wine! — 10 years ago
Straw colored with a greenish cast. Hints of butter and oak on the nose with a touch of honeysuckle. Attack is soft and rich with good oxidized notes in the midpalate and then a screaming wave of sappy acid in the finish. I was prepared to hate this wine, but I like it. — 11 years ago
Bright, pure red tangy fruits, rose petals and loads of minerality. A broad mid-palate is just deep enough to cast a elegant and fine finish. The tannins are resolved and silky. — 10 years ago
Smells like a Reuben on Rye or Bologna or summer sausage. With a strong smell of old pepper. Not unpleasant though. There is also strawberry soda and dusty oak, and a hot, coated grill with toasted cocoanut. The palate is configured in a completely different way, with the steel of the grill replaced with a sweated copper and peppery plum, sugary cran and cast iron, with a black raisin back note. Really an interesting grape! I would love to see this thing done in different styles for comparison, but this is definitely a top offering. Long after the sip, the wine gives you a stripe of bold fruit tannin just across the front teeth that lingers like a grape-induced gap. — 10 years ago

We brought back this wine from our trip to Paris last year. Home cooked meal of seared ribeye steak in a cast iron skillet, baked potatoes with sea salt and creme fraiche, and roasted asparagus with Parmesan cheese. — 11 years ago
