Giovanna Morganti: Podere Le Boncie. She's a fine and set apart winemaker in San Felice/Castelnuovo Berardenga. Her house is the cellar, her mystic garden the vineyard where she does home-grown her own sangiovese grapes and few others local vine variety (mammolo foglia-tonda colorino canaiolo) allowed in the Chianti Classico Appellation, with such a filial piety and discipline as they were kids in a kindergarden. "Le Trame" is the name of her A rated eldest child, a magnificent utterance of Tuscany through the wine. Here's instead, her declassified sangiovese under the IGT umbrella (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) called simply, 5 - with a touch of self-irony - which in terms of grades at the School would be C or D. I do adore this "slacker" and strapping "5" for the harshness sour inborn at the wine, a spontaneous expression of a very acidic and stoney soil too! — 10 years ago

94/100 Brunello encore and its amazing!!

This has great body, deep red with above average opaque-ness in the glass, which draws me to it.

The nose is cool, fresh, deep, hints of mint and lots of wide herb, crushed berry and red fruit.
The palate is weighty like the San Felice, enveloping, cool, sophisticated with amazing fleshy tannin, which isn't grippy like most Brunello but has tremendous mouthfeel.
The fruit is intense, bold, blackberry, cherry with earth. The finish is long, engaging and chewy.

Nome Passione e Sentimento, rende omaggio a Verona, raccontando la storica d’amore per eccellenza, quella tra Romeo e Giulietta, che ha reso Verona famosa in tutto il mondo.

Provenienza Vigneti di San Felice, nella zona est della Valpolicella chiamata Valpantena.

Terreno Calcareo, argilloso, ciottoloso.

Uve Merlot 40%, Corvina 30%, Croatina 30%

Vinificazione Una parte delle uve, selezionate e raccolte a mano con particolare cura, si lascia appassire per un mese in cassette di legno all’interno del Fruttaio. Qui grazie al controllo dell’umidità e al ricircolo dell’aria, gli acini perdono circa il 30% del contenuto di acqua e raggiungono un’alta concentrazione di zuccheri. Avendo tempi di maturazione diversi, la vinificazione avviene separatamente in fermentini di acciaio a temperatura controllata di 25°-28°C, per 30 giorni. Segue in acciaio la fermentazione malolattica che conferisce al prodotto morbidezza ed armonia. L’affinamento in tonneaux di rovere per 3 mesi ed in bottiglia per 1 anno, ne esalta la struttura ed il bouquet.

Caratteristiche Di un bel colore rosso rubino profondo, al naso è intenso e persistente con spiccate note di frutti rossi e sentori di spezie. In bocca è equilibrato, rotondo, morbido e avvolgente al palato, con tannini vellutati.

Abbinamento Ottimo con secondi importanti a base di carni rosse, selvaggina e formaggi stagionati. Servire a 18°C.

I suspect this is a super Tuscan, but it was a great finish to the evening. Really solid acidity balanced out the robust plum and inky thickness of this wine. 2010. 15% also, which is kinda crazy. — 11 years ago
