Special Selection Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1983

What a nose! Fruit but strongly tinged with spice and hints of cigar? Medium body with fruit and acid but latter lingers into finish which RC says should note be for Napa cab and sign of post prime by 5+ years. But still great to drink. Next day under agon the nose lost that spicy note but the palette holding very nicely. More rounded today. — 8 years ago

Château Latour

Premier Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1971

NYC for my 35th and this was firing on all cylinders. Extremely dark in color, massive nose and the palate showed everything good about classic Latour. This liked and tasted like an 80's wine, so youthful and surprisingly no sediment in the bottle. Easily a top 5 wine this year. — 10 years ago

Château Pajzos

Aszú 5 Puttonyos Tokaji 2009

Medium amber; pronounced aromas of marmalade, dried apricot, rye bread, cheese rind, honey; developing; lusciously sweet, high acid, low alcohol, full body, pronounced intensity flavor, long finish; excellent — 7 years ago

Château Margaux

Premier Grand Cru Classé Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 1934

1934 Château Margaux

Top shoulder fill. Semi-opaque at the core, almost like an old burgundy with its brownish hews. Beautiful and graceful bouquet of roses, raspberries that have been baked, very elegant and healthy nose. At first very dry, with the fruit barely hanging on for dear life, but after 15 minutes in the decanted it comes alive with sweet fruit, high acidity and just a kiss of tannin. This is very complex and sublime for about a period of 20-40 minutes, what else could you ask for from a 80 year old bottle of wine.

Hillside Select Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon

Velvety mouthfeel with medium tannins. Robust red and dried fruits, finish of vanilla and graphite. Quaffable af. Would pair with lamb, rabbit, pork, cheese, hummus. Versatile. Honestly not worth it's price point. An off vintage from a delicious vinyard. Would not be hard to find a bottle 1/5 of the price. — 9 years ago
