Tons of Tannins still at work with a barnyard blow off as its opening act. Gobs of fruit and saddle leather on the nose with a hint of mint and evergreen. Good color and very concentrated. A medium finish with a spicy tone and a syrup like After burner. — 7 years ago
A lot of wood and soil. A little heavy, drowning fruit. Dry no mineral continues to dominate; maybe more air. Not bad - well-structured, but not my thing.
Edit: Another day, another bottle. Kinda digging the fruit being on the back burner today. — 8 years ago
Have always put malbec on the back burner, but this malbec has brought them back towards the front. Even better the second day. — 11 years ago
Nose on open was alcohol. Got me worried. But for no need! Wow this was great. Nose eventually morphed into stone and gravel with a touch of raspberry. Elegant flavor throughout. Dark rich fruit and ripe tannins. Figs. Great tension with the acidity I expect from a Barbera. Black tea grippiness. What a blend. Highly recommend despite present alcohol that could have been integrated a touch better or benefitted from being a touch lower. Nbd though and not a hot burner. — 7 years ago
Roasting oysters over a Bunsen burner. — 8 years ago
Very reminiscent of a Crianza. The palate is super pretty, leaning on blueberry cobbler, black cherries, sugarplums, rose petals, bay leaves, pastrami, wood burner, chocolate, vanilla, and sweet tobacco. The mid-palate and finish are loaded with sweet fruit. Tannins are quite round. Tempranillo has something to say in Clarksburg.

The old man passed away and told his kids to keep everything the same . Thank God bc this drinks great . It's somewhat of a burner @ 14.5 but when it lays down this wine drinks great . Tuff to beat this at the price point . This may be one of my new favorite cabs . BBC Big Bad Cab !! — 10 years ago
We are lovers of heavy cabs. Barn burner , del dotto, etc. When we drink a white, we prefer vibrant chards. Hobbs russian river chard has become our favorite. — 10 years ago

Haven't had a big burner in a while but great and subtle even at a young age. Well-integrated and smoothly meaty — 11 years ago

Very fresh and lightly fruity for a Chardonnay. Paired nicely with teriyaki chicken! — 6 years ago
