Bolgheri Sassicaia%2c Livorno

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia

Bolgheri Red Bordeaux Blend

It's 30% worse than Sassicaia but 10% cheaper- stick to the Sassicaia - but if push comes to shove- you will love this wine! — 8 years ago

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia

Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia Bolgheri Rosso Merlot Blend 2012

Freezing my ass off in NYC and back at Cipriani... How many $20 bills have I palmed Fabio over the years, but he parts at least 50 people to give me the best table in the house... This Moses parting this human Red Sea greets me with two kisses and a welcome Mr. Peter... Love this guy... Anyway, Scott & Deb, two of my oldest clients join me... Deb looks exactly the way she looked 20 years ago and Scott looks great... This wine; AIA!!! Velvety, rich, dark, seductive... It's a beautiful woman in a glass... Ornellaia and Sassicaia... Two of my favorites... Still young, but oh so drinkable... — 9 years ago

Marchesi Antinori

Tenuta Guado al Tasso Il Bruciato Bolgheri Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2013

GUADOAL TASSO BRUCIATO 2013 TOSCANA, CAB 20% MERLOT 15% SYRAH Guado a Tasso estate owned by italian super power Antinori 50 miles SW of Florence in Bolgheri by the sea. Bolgheri became known for being the birthplace of Super Tuscans (wines using mainly international varietal like cabernet sauvignon ,merlot, cab franc and syrah )about 50 yrs ago when the benchmark SASSICAIA was first created. Since then the area has been growing immensely producing some great expensive wines( Sassicaia, Ornellaia , Masseto) but also some affordable easy drinking ones like BRUCIATO that encloses softness of the smell of the breeze that touches Bolgheri and its hills is expressed in the glass with a deep ruby red and hints of cherry, blackberry and sweet spices. In the mouth ,is elegant and cozy ,thanks to a delicate softness , also due to the refinement of 12 months in new oak barrels and nice spice and delicate aromas The nose is dominated by intense notes of ripe red berry fruit and complementary aromas of sweet spices and coffee.Ample and
balanced on the palate, the wine shows silky tannins along with a sweet and spicy finish and aftertaste.

Castello di Bolgheri

Bolgheri Superiore SuperTuscan Blend 2009

Andrew Stover
9.7

2009 Castello di Bolgheri Super Tuscan. Blend of Cab Sauv, Cab Franc & Merlot. The estate borders Sassicaia. As good but more budget friendly around $60 retail. Dark cherry and black currants waft from the glass while anise, cedar and mineral notes bring up the rear. Fleshy and firm. Stunning. #wine #tuscany #bolgheri #italy #sommelier#sommelier#sommelier #somm #sassicaia — 10 years ago

Gaja

Ca' Marcanda Camarcanda Bolgheri Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

'09 vintage Ca'Marcanda.
Very intense nose of mature fruit with a herb like note that is quite persistent. Very fragrant and serious, the nose is really appealing.
Very Bordeaux on the palate, this Gaja is right, long, with a beautiful mid palate. This is not Sassicaia for sure but it's getting there. Loved it

Podere Sapaio

Bolgheri Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

Suggested by the sommelier to go with my filet. A super Tuscan that rivals the big guns - Sassicaia, Orneillaia, or Ca' Marcanda. Delicious! — 10 years ago
