The highlight of the day, and maybe of the trip, was a personal tasting with @Mike Smith , winemaker of Myriad, Carter, Becklyn, Scarlett, Ancillary and many other well known labels. Mike was kind enough to pour some of his personal label (Myriad Cellars), a Pinot from Ancillary (project he does with Mark Carter) and capped off the tasting with some Carter Cellars. The Myriad Dr Crane Elysian and Carter Weitz Vineyards were standouts of the trip so far. The Weitz Vineyard had great power and energy to it. Like Mike said, he loves making super dark wines...most were almost black in the glass. Love those kinds of wines! Charcoal, blackberry, plum on the nose and palate. Difference between this and the Dr Crane Elysian was the Elysian felt more fruit forward and in your face. Loved the restraint on this. Mike, thanks again for an amazing wine tasting! Just a little something something to prep my palate before the Festivities began! Solid Chardonnay but I expected more.
On the fun side!: Blind tasting three wines tonight with friends: 2013 Beau Vigne Estate, 2014 Becklyn Reserve & 2013 Morlet Coeur de Vallee. Can't wait to dig in to those 3 bad boys!!! — 8 years ago

Parker 99 pointer for whatever it's worth,
Blend of their finest vineyards, not sure which ones they are, but thats the description. $112.00 from the winery, for the same 💵💳 I'll take the Becklyn moulds & Scarlett Reserve, but its a good wine to try.

Fantastic, like all the reviews say. The QPR is pretty good given the quality. For me, I like a tougher cab that knocks my palate around a little and this is very smooth for it's youth. — 8 years ago
