Concentrated extract. Nearly pitch black in the glass. Takes an hour to come to complete expression with layers of dark red fruit of cherry and plum soaked in spice. Remained very centered on the palette and settled in a complex, layered finish. Since we have been in Australia for more than six weeks I have to use the cricket lingo: this wine was all about ‘Lane and Length’. Much, much enjoyed it. Blew my head off. — 5 months ago
See previous note from a year ago. More medium bodied than I recall from previous tastings. Plum flesh aromas and flavours together with dark chocolate. This wine is obviously old vine Barossa Shiraz and is Peter Lehmann’s flagship. Still plenty of power and energy which will see it through for several more years. — 10 months ago
Love me some AUS Barossa Shiraz — 3 years ago
Fruity, peppery, soft, elegant. — 6 years ago
Surprising complexity of flavor on the finish. A little jammy — 7 years ago
A bit past prime musty at first but opened up nicely with some eucalyptus and soft dark fruit — 8 years ago
Huge, classic Barossa Shiraz--loads of fruit but a bit more balanced now. — 9 years ago
I love Dan Standish. He is one of the best winemakers. Lovely wine, very young. Blueberry and Red silky fruit. Full Bodied but not overly alcoholic, heat isn't obvious in this wine. Great length and layers of flavours. Big points from me 95 points. A producer I highly recommend! Typical sweet Barossa fruit, very seductive... — 9 years ago
Full body, high acidity, deep ruby, high tannin , fine tannin, super smooth, good structure, dark fruit, black berry, blue berries, plum, chocolate, good finish. Good aroma, — 3 months ago

I haven’t had this wine since the late 2000’s.
As good as I remember it.

1hr+ decant and could have used more. Dark red color. Interesting nose with metallic, medicinal tones that tingled my nose. Wine has massive strawberry and cassis; and is sweeter than I was expecting. Very concentrated. The tannins reduce with ample air and the spicy aspects dissipate with time as well making it more approachable. Medium finish. — 3 years ago
Amazing wine......drinking with Rob K who just got promoted (again) to Full Prof (yes the spelling of Full is correct).....at this rate he will be Dean of the Faculty by August. Wine is a wild mixture of petroleum, chocolate, toffee, blueberrys.......everlasting finish......for a 2002 this thing is hitting its prime right now — 7 years ago
Thick. Luscious and got plenty of legs. Love this blend — 9 years ago

Incredible rich Shiraz — 10 years ago
Beautifully soft and easy to drink — 3 months ago
Pale straw color with a slight green cast. Piercing aromas of petrol and wet slate with slight hints of white flowers and lemon/lime. The palate features ripe red apple, white peach, lemon and lime with a light touch of spicy ginger. A bit of a chalky texture which is well balanced by bracing acidity. A bit of CO2 bubbles in the glass. Long and lingering finish. Great with food. — 7 months ago
Very nice with our steaks at the Keg for Mike’s birthday — a year ago
The palate is rich, round & soft with concentrated berry fruit & hints of anise. These flavours are enhanced by velvety tannins & spicy length of flavour on the finish.
Pepperjack Barossa Shiraz is a blend of Shiraz parcels sourced from premium vineyards throughout the Barossa. Parcels selected for Pepperjack Barossa Shiraz have bright, rich fruit concentration with a range of flavours from red berries to rich plums and a hint of savoury notes.
The fruit is fermented for up to ten days depending on the parcel of fruit, then aged for 12 months in a mix of American and French Oak. Individual parcels of fruit are matured separately to maximise the blends complexity through a staged selection process. The resultant wine is soft and plush with lots of flavour, balance and a fine tannin structure — 5 years ago
Smells kind of like... Wax, I suppose and mild oak.
Tastes big. Dark berries, nice round tanins with a mild finish. — 7 years ago

For the low price point, this is really good. — 10 years ago

Bought at Pine Orchard 7/23, $12. Was expecting a richer Shiraz with the whiskey barrel aging. Just a typical Australian Shiraz, no different. — 3 months ago
