Cherry cola, big big cherries, licorice, mineral and even ripe strawberry. Super aromatic and wonderful. Unique as well. Built in the 17th century, Château overlooks vineyards of Mercurey in Côte Chalonnaise. In 1934, Marquis de Jouennes, father-in-law of Bertrand Devillard and grand-father of Amaury and Aurore (present owners), produced his first bottle of red Mercurey. Soft red fruit nose with rustic spices. Cherry and raspberry, sweet herb spice, good balance. Smooth tannins, lingering ending with earthy mineral tones. — 8 years ago

Vigorous nose of uber-crunchy cherry/grapey fruit and a dry gravel and granite earthiness. Dry and demanding in the mouth. Very stoney and lean right now but with quiet intensity of fruit. Long finish. This needs 6-12 months at least. — 10 years ago
