Wendouree fruit, be certain to chill or down enough to highlight delicate its spritz. Aged and dried fruit, prunes, raisins and sweet oak. If you're in the mood for this it's incredible. — 10 years ago

I've been on the hunt for this for a while now, and I'm happy to finally get some in my glass. The juicy cab franc with its spicy and peppery undertones does take in a Loire direction, but then the zweigelt adds a different sort of funk that pushes it into new territory. A lot going on here for such a quaffable wine, and it comes across as dynamic, alive and idiosyncratic. It also pushes all my happy buttons. Yum. Holla @Phil Ashton! — 9 years ago
Medium to deep ruby red. Dark spices (cinnamon and cloves) on the attack of the nose with dark berries and plums. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) with balanced acidity and medium plus body. Seems a little older than a 2013. Lots of dark cherries, woody notes, savory characteristics and light minerality in the long finish. Drink till 2022. — 9 years ago
Such a cool couple and unique winery - this wine is lovely — 10 years ago
I feel as if someone's going to jump out and tell me I've been Punk'd with this wine. So far, Ashton is nowhere to be seen. For 8.99 this bottle insane! Why are they selling it for so cheap? This really is one of the best tasting value wines I've come across in a long while. I'm still looking over my shoulder for a camera crew... — 10 years ago

Great wine...amazing balance! — 9 years ago
Sample from Estate. Deep and clear yellow, love this wine from the start, so visually appealing. Beautifully complex nose that started off with a little bit of oak influence, toasted nuts. Layers created the complexity with notes of stone fruits, and some citrus, almost like a lemon curd. Day two the nose got a little sappier, as in thicker and dark with some honeysuckle. Moderate acidity (6.5/10) and full bodied. Creamy mid palate with vanilla bean and honeysuckle in the front. Long finish that brings through a more Burgundy feel with lemon and a little minerality. Absolutely delicious and killer value for only $25.00. Drink now or enjoy till 2023. — 9 years ago
Second wine we are trying tonight and the same name as my mom. Garnet red with a crimson core. Nose started off with a slight smokiness that wore off to plums, dark cherries, and some light strawberries. Very interesting undertone of thick and creamy dark cocoa. Slight baking spices on the palate with some dark cherries and plums. Moderate plus tannins (7.5/10) with a strong structured body. Slight dryness to the finish. Definitely needs a couple years to fully integrate and becoming a stunning WA Bordeaux. Drink from 2017 till 2028. 55% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. — 10 years ago
