My first Armenian wine. Made with Haghtanak grape, a Soviet-era hybrid between Armenian varietals and Georgian Saperavi. From vineyards in the Ararat Valley, 35 km west of Yerevan. Fermented in steel tanks and aged 7 months in Caucasian oak barrels. Dark ruby/purple color. Dark fruit, vanilla and oak on the nose. Some herbal notes. Full-bodied, big, quite bold and round on the palate. Pomegranate flavors. Tannic. Good value — 4 years ago
2019 Armenian! Dry, not sweet and medium bodied. Very nice white wine. — 5 years ago
2018 vintage. Historical producer tracing back to the beginning of the 19th century. 100% Areni Noir from the Vayots Dzor region from 40 years old vines at 1300 - 1400 m. Calcareous and volcanic soils. Aged 6 months in used Armenian oak barrels. A very good introduction to the wonderful Areni Noir grape. Brilliant transparent ruby. Attractive nose with pomegranate, red cherries, flowers and a hint of vanilla. Elegant taste with bright red fruit, fresh acidity and a nice ripe tannic bite. Amazing value at about 13 euro. Abv. 14%, but hardly noticed. — 6 years ago
Very drinkable Armenian sparkling wine — 9 years ago
On Armenian Christmas must drink wine from Armenia, keeps getting better and better with bottle age. 2011 was the 2nd vintage and the 1st to get imported to the US in limited quantities. Wine is aged in clay pot (amphora) from vineyards of a 13th century monastery. — 9 years ago
Super complex. Layered rich caramel and spice market floor. Incredible tannins and big and chewy brandy! — 11 years ago
Very good Armenian Brandy. Exceptional discovery. The only brandy not produced in France which has the right to call itself "brandy" although written in Armenian language. There is always something new to discover!! — 12 years ago
Отличный коньяк — 13 years ago
My first Armenian wine, which is not surprising since this is the only one that seems to be readily available in the US. Medium bodied, with red fruit and floral aromas on the nose. Darker fruit on the palate with some vanilla and spice flavors. Velvety texture. It took a bit to open up, but once it did I couldn't put my glass down. 95% Areni, 5% Tozot. 1/8/23. — 3 years ago

Armenian wine is severely underrated — 10 years ago
Indigenous Armenian red blend that could easily be mistaken for a good softer Crozes-Hermitage. — 11 years ago
Dry and delightful! Perfect with an Armenian mezza. — 4 years ago
50% Kangun (native Armenian varietal), 40% Chardonnay and 10% Viognier. Dark gold color with some green hints. Aromas and flavors of citrus, pears, peaches and pineapple. Hint of white flowers on the spicy finish. Medium to full bodied white reminiscent of a Rhône White Blend. (Due to the Viognier?). Interesting. — 5 years ago
Very crisp and light. Tropical notes with lychee and lemongrass . Only Armenian wine I’ve found in Dallas! Great for our hot summers! — 5 years ago
Perhaps this wine would be better described as a field blend rather than Delectable’s take as being a Zinfandel blend. But, hey...you have to start somewhere; particularly with 8+ varietals in the mix. Paired it up with Armenian chicken Shish Kebab and the usual suspects. Pretty damn perfect. (The wine really shows itself after 30/45 minutes in decanter.) — 6 years ago
When in Russia...delightful Armenian wine. Young and fruity, just as I like ‘em... — 7 years ago
@Sean Nelson Armenian bubbles and fried chicken ... not too shabby — 9 years ago
Lovely Armenian red w good structure and fruit. Tiny production. I had it at the Smithsonian in DC and have no idea how I'll find it again. — 9 years ago

The dark horse of the evening. Delicious! Crisp, elegant, light. — 10 years ago
This superTuscan wine was an amazing and versatile food wine, standing up bravely to a meal of Thai peanut-coconut shrimp, vinegar cucumber/carrot-mint salad, and Armenian spiced steak over a bed of spinach-couscous roasted red peppers. Excellent! — 11 years ago
We discovered this vineyard on a quick trip to the coast. Not to be swayed by the knowledgable staff or the beautiful surroundings, we brought home 2 bottles of this lovely can blend. We were not disappointed. Lush, smooth, with just enough fruit without being 'sweet.' Stood up well to Armenian dolmas. A new favorite. — 13 years ago
