@Delectable Wine this is the Troika Berlin Vineyard Pinot Noir.

Last winery on day two in Sonoma was Troika Wines with Jeff, Noel and Ari. Next up is a new bottling made up of Pinot Noir from the Berlin Vineyard in Bennett Valley. Aged in 75% new French oak.

Medium garnet red with ruby hues. Lots of floral notes on the nose with some strawberries and a little bit of minerality. Medium acidity (6/10) and medium bodied. Fresh palate with the acidity carrying through with layers of strawberries, bark, roses and some lighter white flowers. Medium plus to long finish. Will develop nicely with a few more years in bottle. Drink till 2024.

Last winery on day two in Sonoma was Troika Wines with Jeff, Noel and Ari. Last white wine was their Towne Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc which comes from Calistoga.

Clear lemon yellow with a slight greenish hue. Lots of white peaches, some apricot, honeysuckle and gravel on the nose. Medium acidity (6.5/10) and light plus body. Fresh palate with a touch of sweetness and lots of stone fruits and a slightly creamy mouthfeel. Medium plus to long finish. Drink till 2022.

Completely awesome; one of the best wines we’ve had in the last year or two. Hits the funky carignan flavors that made us fall in love with natural wine in the first place—but the chardonnay blending takes it to a different, lighter and surprising territory. Drank at the bar at Ops, and then a bottle at the dinnertable, with Ari, Evan and Diana (who had just arrived via Revel scooter, “Love Island” Britishisms in tow). Last winery on day two in Sonoma was Troika Wines with Jeff, Noel and Ari. Next up was their insanely dark Rose from the Split Rock Ranch in Mendocino County made up of 100% Grenache and fermented in neutral French oak barrels.

Medium ruby red with a touch of garnet on the edges. Nose is layered with rhubarb, raspberries, cherries and a little bit of flowers. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium to medium plus body. More strawberries on the palate and cinnamon. Well integrated with a dry and long finish. Drink till 2021.

Last winery on day two in Sonoma was Troika Wines with Jeff, Noel and Ari. First up was their Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc which comes from two vineyards up near Calistoga.

Light greenish yellow in appearance. Fresh nose with notes of lychee, melon some oak and stone fruits. Medium acidity (6/10) with a light plus to medium body. Fresh and crisp on the palate with a touch of sweetness. Notes of white peaches, apricot, mild nuttiness, pineapple and a touch of minerality. Medium plus to long finish. Drink till 2022.

Viewed my first rocket launch tonight, a SpaceX Falcon 9 out of Vandenberg AFB. Photo is just after booster separation. Booster then returned and landed. This is the only wine I Had with a space tie, at least in name. A former second label for Mark Adams of Ledge and long time Saxum assistant. I presume this is a GSM. Big fruit Paso profile and 15.5% ABV. Tasty and a good buy at $15. — 7 years ago

Deep ruby red. Lush nose with cinnamon, violets, dark berries, jasmine and a little bit of bramble too. Medium tannins (6.5/10) and a medium plus body. A bit earthy on the palate with some dark plums, blackberries and sweet spices. Dry medium plus to long finish. Drink till 2024. (91+)
