This wine had me jump in to a cacao jungle, in this rare jungle I came across a aromatic and pungent herb tobacco. The tobacco acted as a buffer to the oak and caressed the palette like none other. There is a presence of black cherry on the mountain forrest floor where I taste a fallen oak and a land unknown. It looks as though any age has a presence whether young or old on a wine of this magnitude. Awesome job on this one, will be happy to try again years from now. This wine decanted:first; it will transport you to a world unknown; next, it will have your cheeks will pop with anticipation that spirals your tastebuds like a whirlwind; lastly it brings to miss what you have finished... — 10 years ago
The big smile rating has much to do with a) how in the mood I was for this (lamb back straps, winter's day), the anticipation of it being exactly what was required and the resounding way in which it proved me right. Blackberry and cassis, cigar box complexity, amplitude, medium body and - the best thing - supple, grainy fruit tannins that held the fruit in a warm and enduring embrace. — 11 years ago
GIGANTIC ANTICIPATION for this over the next decade, couldn't help myself to 1 of 12 now it's time to patiently wait! — 11 years ago

Deep purple color drove anticipation. Excellent start with a interesting nose which was not as bold as expected. However, I appreciated the fruit which was presented. The texture as you drink still remains delicate, yet pleasing. Plum and cherry with soft tannins. A finish that doesn't disappoint which invites you back. Good at $85 if you can find it. Over $125 would be pushing it in my opinion. — 10 years ago
Been looking for this for a while. Lived up to the anticipation. — 11 years ago
So much anticipation, somewhat dissatisfied. Burgundy.... — 11 years ago
After much anticipation I wasn't let down. Notes of rich, extracted dark fruit, dates, black cherry, freshly plowed organic soil. Satiny-smooth finish. — 11 years ago
Anticipation galore — 12 years ago
Slightly smoked berries, unsweetened cough syrup with notes of melted jolly-ranchers that have been mixed with water. This wine, for me, would be ideal on a 102 degree afternoon in August, around 5:15pm as the sun is on the edge of being unbearable – on its way to become a delightful evening. With intentions of grabbing a rosé... instead, I would grab this charming Gamay to boost my palate into the evening, with anticipation of a bolder evening red. — 10 years ago
Well hello new friend. The label refers to Kew Vineyards as a "hidden gem". We feel the same about The Soldier's Grant. Beautiful in the glass; deep colour with a hint of bronze(and great legs!), with a nose that makes you smile in anticipation. The taste does not disappoint. A definite winner. — 10 years ago

Opaque black violet. Burgundy rim to black center. Vanilla, leather aroma. Tannic and prickly on the back of my tongue. Not sure what is in here - Syrah? cab? Really awesome. — 9 years ago
