Compared to the Anthem winery LPV wine, this one has just about an identical nose. The nose of this vineyard just seems to be a "purple" kind of note. But, the wine seemed to be very different. This wine was a little on the lean side. Entered with black cherry and a hint of fig and dark chocolate in the middle. Finished with a moderate youthful tannic bite. The sweeter side of this which it probably displayed 2 or so years ago has started to soften, and is starting to allow some more interesting notes in the future. Probably one of the more balanced LPV wines I've had to date without a doubt, but it failed to hit the upper rung of wines today. The Rudd Samantha's and 2005 Spoto Private Reserve stole the show. Regarding this wine, I think it's probably a good idea to lock it up for 5 years to see what it has in 2023. Considering what people pay for these bottles, you've got nothing to lose by aging it in this case. β 6 years ago

Nice well rounded body tasting the cherry's and red berries. Love the bouquet. It is a little heavier than the usual Pinot Noir β 9 years ago

Hungary - no wonder the nectar from Tokaji grapes are mentioned in your National Anthem. Yes, I did my research, after this slick, juicy, drop had me weak at the knees. Well balanced acidity paired with a medium bodied concentration, youβll feel as if a delicate lick of butter, watermelon and lime is shimmying its way across all corners of your mouth - find where it visited by following the tingling tracks with your tongue. Anthropomorphism would unveil a suave talking Eastern European man called Ambrus, whoβd need no introduction. Not to your parents, your friends, your dog, nor your gold fish. This, he too, knows. Green, steady eyes, tanned skin, a strong will, and a smile thatβs so good, itβs cruel. A man theyβd all love, but would hate you to date. Someone whoβd stroke your head, but look to the horizon. A man that enjoys all company, but has no plan to stay around. Thatβs perfect - too much of a good thing is arduous. Drink up, and look forward to introducing Ambrus, to people yet to know his charm. β 6 years ago
Everything you need to know about this wine is here (including some randoms about the winery dog apparently). Definitely better than the Beckstoffer Las Piedras Cab which basically tasted like a sample right off the crush pad and never developed. Took this one an hour to get going, as it seemed a little thin and metallic for the first while. After allowing to sit, this darker violet-tinged wine had a very nice mature huckleberry and hint of nitrogen and au jus. The middle of this wine gets a bit more robust with some darker chocolate notes but keeping that dark, expressive and even slightly sweeter fruit. The finish has quite a bit of pepper, but also a stiff oak tannin. This wine finishes pretty long. Not sure if I want to sell off the second bottle or keep it around another couple of years. IMO the Hill Family Merlot which is about $30 cheaper outdoes this one easily. β 7 years ago

Because who doesnβt love to celebrate national Cab Franc day? @rudiuswines is Brittany & Jeff Ames label. Jeff was an early understudy to Thomas Brown, working on Schrader, Maybach, and Outpost amongst others while he developed his own client list, including Tor Kenward, Boich, and Anthem. Itβs worth noting that the wines Jeff has produced for Tor have been some of my favorites for at least a decade.
The 2014 Rudius Cabernet Franc Sugarloaf Vineyard Napa Valley envelopes your plate with a captivating display of mouthwatering raspberry, savory loam, sweet tobacco, and just the right hint of bell pepper before the cocoa powder dusted finish rocks your world. Delicious is an understatement. This was so spectacular I opened it two nights in a row (run donβt walk to Sunshine and steal it for $40). #delicious #rediculouslydelicious β 5 years ago
The Cabernet Franc is the central player here and 2014 fruit in Maryland is delicious. The wine is still young, but a little air helps the bright fruit and sweet tannins to integrate well. I plan to try the next bottle in two or three years and with a filet or leg of lamb. β 7 years ago
Lovely wine. Would be even better if alcohol was a little lower β 8 years ago
Wine tasting notes: night time dock, wicker, exhaled tobacco smoke, bubbles. Finish of screen doors slamming and clothes rustling. Pairs best with the noise static used to make from your TV after the national anthem, and boobs. β 9 years ago
