Young, dark, fully loaded with forest berries notes. Charged with tannins, full-bodied, intense and long-playable. Beside the youth presents himself elegant.
After some 15/20 years should be silky, delicate but with the same nice structure. Alvaro knows his job. — 7 years ago

Alvaro ho like semiautomatic nose with white peach, underripe apricot and white flowers. Light on the palate with a bit of spritz, low alcohol, tingling acidity. I need oysters and a pool. Lovely — 3 years ago

This wine is so smooth. Flavours of plums, dark fruit, fig and a hint of smokiness. Smooth tannins and a long finish. Put anything on the grill and enjoy this. — 4 years ago

Nice... A little residual sugar is off putting. But the flavor profile is stellar. And Tio Alvaro says "exceptional for my palate".

La Montesa by trailblazing winemaker Alvaro Palacios at the helm of the family estate Palacios Remondo in Alfaro, Rioja Oriental/Rioja Baja, the sometimes snubbed, southernmost subzone within the Rioja appellation. Fruit is sourced from from Palacios Remondo’s eponymous 90-hectare vineyard on the northeastern slope of Monte Yerga, at an altitude of 1,800 feet. Fresh, elegant, refined, structured. Juicy fruit, spicy finish. — 5 years ago

A dense bright ruby in colour. Initially vanilla/oak notes which blew off with time in decanter. Dense rich and brooding - not giving much aromatically. Tight and muscular. Behaves younger than 7 years. Made by the redoubtable Rene Barbier, one of the founders of the revitalised Priorat movement as shown in the excellent documentary “Dreaming of Wine”. Full bodied and flavoursome. Rich and herbal - predominantly ripe Garnacha grapes. Red and black fruits. Had a wonderful visit there last year with the family and an informative tour and tasting at Clos Mogador. I love the fact that they have kept their wines affordable unlike their Priorat colleagues Alvaro Palacios (L’Ermita) and Daphne Glorian (Clos Erasmus) whose wines are quite expensive. This Mogador is so not ready to drink! Needs time in the cellar. Disagree with Thomas Matthews Drinking window of 2019 to 2024. Personally I think this wine will cruise through to 2030. I will leave the last one for around another 4 years. — 2 years ago
