Brilliant Sancerre with a very light oak influence. Great minerality with chalk and flint happily supporting grapefruit, lemon, apple and a whiff of cut grass. Great depth, firm acidity and very expressive. A tremendous example of upscale Sauvignon blanc — 5 years ago

Soft, subtle, food friendly. Not in your face but beautiful. — 6 years ago
Developed red with ochre pigment. Cherrystone, rosehippy and briary, some sous bois and earthy aromas. Linear, precise, not too much showy or expressive, reserved, with a good inner balance. A bit too narrow and shallow to be at a good burgundy level but good enough. — 8 years ago

Lemon curd, flint, chalk, smoke and a vegetal note. Tasted wine after its peak. — 3 years ago
Dry and mineralogy. Chalk soils. Very drinkable. Drunk in the kitchen with Lara. — 3 years ago
Green apple, peach, mineral and floral notes right after opening. As it warms up has a slightly oily sensation reminiscent of lemon peel. At an even later stage a sweet aroma of fennel seeds. Nice long finish with a slight hint of refreshing bitterness. Hint of smokiness as well. Rounded mouthfeel with good and balanced acidity. — 5 years ago

Favorite red of the year, best Pinot Noir ever. After first glass tried to order a case..saddened to learn of its scarcity and high price. But still want to be alerted when it becomes available! Delicious! Extraordinary. Thanks Dad! — 7 years ago
The bouquet is fresh and very floral. The color is a vibrant ruby red with an immediate taste of tart red raspberries. A full zing, medium tannins, along with a silky and smooth finish. Paired well with a Cosmic apple, sharp cheddar, champagne blueberry preserves, Marcona almonds, and fresh raspberries and blackberries! A true gem! — 3 years ago

Really an excellent Pinot noir from Sancerre. After my wife and I took a sip we both exclaimed that we need to start buying more Sancerre rouge - just a great quality / price ratio, especially for Pinot noir. This is ruby red, with a dusty cherry nose. A touch restrained on the palate with lots of minerality coming through - great cherry notes on the palate, long finish. Really nice. — 5 years ago
Medium ruby; medium intensity aromas of red plum, black plum, red cherry, blueberry, blossom, savory greenness, sweet spices; dry, medium acid, medium tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, medium intensity flavors of red and black plum, red cherry, crushed rocks, florals, savory stemminess; medium finish, well integrated and elegant, very good — 5 years ago
Truly stunning- a complete wine with power and finesse. Bursting with sweet red fruit. Intense minerality. Ample weight without feeling heavy, and a finish that seems to last all day. The delicacy and sweetness of Volnay with the power and structure of Gevrey. Leather, licorice, tobacco, smoke. In a blind tasting this would be hard for me to differentiate from a 1er cru Burgundy. Easily the best Sancerre rouge I’ve had the opportunity to taste. Will age for 15 years or more. Gorgeous wine. — 6 years ago

1999 vintage. Pascal Montaut is one of the greatest winemakers in Blaye ( Jonqueyres), but he is currently retired and sold his estate. Up to the final 2010 vintage, he also produced a microscopic quantity of an atypical Cabernet Sauvignon dominated Côtes de Bourg that tastes more like a Saint-Estèphe. Superb quality in this generally mediocre vintage. Still a solid colour. Cassis, graphite, leather and subtle floral hints.. Amazingly fresh and vibrant in the mouth with juicy black fruit in a ripe tannic frame and a longfinish with retronasal fruit and dark chocolate. Impressive. Abv. 13,5%. — a year ago
