My rankings:
1) brawler- 94 (2nd biggest wine)
2) black tie - 93 (1st biggest wine)
3) instigator - 93 (3rd biggest wine- more elegant than previous vintages. While it used to be all solano county syrah, it is now blended with a lodi vineyard)
4) truant - 92-93 - solid gsm
5) brat - gs that i need to try again. The oak was coming off a little strong on the small taste i had.

Hear the shake ridge syrah in barrel is midnight black in color and going to be a rockstar. Looking forward to seeing what he does with that vineyard. — 7 years ago

@Shay A ive for sure gotten meaty and savory on the brawler/instigator in previous vintages. I only had small tastes of the 2016s but they are more primary fruit at this stage. I would recommend the brawler right now because i need to retry the instigator with a full glass as it’s a new vineyard blend.

@Paul Treadway Huntington Beacher Bum consistent as always. All great values. I have 2 cases sitting in front of me. When the shake ridge comes out, it will be a little pricier but that’s because of the fruit cost. My girlfriend actually prefers the brawler to the myriad georges iii. She gives the brawler 95 and myriad 94.
