Great fruit even at this age. The only issue I had besides the slight bell pepper is how rough the tannins were and the coconut on the nose. American oak? Not something i’d think Roy would use. — 4 months ago

Nearly opaque crimson color.
Rich bouquet with tannins present.
Immediately spiced on the palate with an earthy, cocoa, herbaceous, candied, fertilized quality.
Lots of gentle chocolate rounded out by dark, fresh fruit. — 6 months ago
Still showing a lot of tannic and acidic structure, but enough fruit to keep it in check once it had a few hours of air, youthful still, and brawny. — 6 months ago
A little farmyardy on opening, but still some pleasure in this forgotten oldie from the cellar when it opened up… — 3 months ago

One of the most explosive, expressive 09’s I’ve had in recent memory, and one of my favorite Burgundy terroirs, 1er Cru Beaumonts is wafting from the glass tonight holding nothing back with layered and complex aromatics, a liquid cashmere palate with both power and finesse and a long, mineral inflicted finish. Exceptional showing. — 2 months ago
