I've hit the last 4 out of 5 weekly wine committees and it has been a treat every time. This week, @Jeff Meyer hosted and schooled everyone on how good German wines can be!

My favorite red of the day. Mimicked #1 in that I got a lot of new world/RRV characteristics to it. Cedar, cola, Bing cherry notes. Thought possibly Oregon. Very Burgundian, but with a more fruit forward palate. Excellent. — 8 years ago

"Sunny mountain." From the lower Ahr with a high proportion of loess giving an easygoing charm. The barrique really stands out against the slender frame of the wine, giving lots of cedar and spice. Hopefully that will integrate better with time. — 8 years ago

Finally! A German Pinot Noir worth listening to (I live in Berlin and spent some time looking for the serious German red wine that the world is going on about, while loving Mosel whites). So here we go. Nose of violets and perfume. Some tannins. The finish is long although it seems to consist of astringency and no aromas. — 10 years ago
