Agree that this could use about 10 more years. Pleasant to drink but still a little tight. Addendum: Saved about a quarter of the bottle in a small decanter (with a stopper) and had it the next night. First time a wine was better the second day. It had opened up and was outstanding. Decant as long as possible. — 10 years ago
Dry but delicious. And sweet once you have the right food pairings. Decanted for 6 hours. Not enough. If I do it for 12+hrs it could be even better. You can tell this is a powerful wine and can hold on to that finesse taste even after being opened for hours. Addendum- I decanted two more bottles. One for 8 hrs one for 18 hrs. 18 is way too long, the wine lost a lot of its magic. The sweet spot might be 6-8hrs. — 8 years ago
Not the big, over-the-top fruit bomb you get with Kosta Browne, nor the elegant intensity of CIRQ. Much leaner and more austere. Probably what someone with a classically trained Burgundian palate would call the perfect expression of Pinot Noir. Just not in my wheelhouse. @Bill Bender and @DAG probably know exactly what I'm talking about. Addendum: several hours have passed since opening and the wine has improved greatly in literally every respect. The nearly non-existent nose now oozes from the glass. The mid palate shows much more fruit, and most of all, the finish exhibits great reach. This wine benefits greatly from a lengthy decant. Lesson learned. — 9 years ago

Addendum Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford, Skellenger Lane.
This wine is very dark in the glass. It gives off an unexpectedly subtle aroma of cassis and smoke. A whiff of graphite and leather come in after it sits a bit. The palate shows its youth, but in an endearing way. Slightly spiky tannins settle down with time, and the dark berry flavors just get more intense. There is some sweet vanilla in play, along with an easy little dash of cinnamon. The finish is incredibly long, and it's a pleasure to behold. — 8 years ago
Beautifel legs, lovely nose. Unspecified blend seems like primarily Cab, ? Mourvèdre ?cinsault in lesser quantities. Big up front, nice finish, killer with grilled ribeye Addendum: wrong!!! Looked it up 45% Merlot, 14 Cab Sauv, 12 Zin, 6 Cab Franc, 6 petite Sirah, 3 Malbec — 10 years ago
Peppery cassis. Leathery oak. Not really in my wheelhouse. Will re-visit tonight and perhaps add an addendum — 11 years ago

Not Skellenger Lane as ID'd. Napa Valley. This is an extremely dark-tinted wine. It's nearly impenetrable, in fact. The nose follows suit, showing very dark fruit covered in a savory shawl of forest floor, cigar box, pencil shavings and spearmint. The palate is lush, with blackberry flavors and earth most prominent. It has quite a backbone, with enough tannic structure for marbled beef and some left over. It still drinks fairly youthfully, but it does settle down somewhat over time.
