Pretty darn good. Not sure how it's "intense" but I'll happily have another glass. Or bottle. — 9 years ago

Nicely made NV grower champs. On the nose, yeasty and toasty apples, pears, lees. In the mouth, buttered toast and grilled apples. Great acidity. Good length. Perfect for painting and drinking on a Sunday. Disgorged Nov 2015. — 9 years ago

Gratavinum

2 Pi R Priorat Red Blend 2006

The dryness, tannins & acidity of this wine paired well with braised short ribs. The ribs were accompanied by polenta & salad with Meyer Lemon vinaigrette. Very important pairing note - balancing acidity to cut richness but still give a pleasant mouth - feel. 2006 vintage - Floral notes weren't dominant for us. — 10 years ago

Cuvée R Extra-Brut Champagne Blend

Loved this as it is so easy to enjoy as an aperitif or with a well suited meal. Biscuit, bread and leesy notes dominate with fruit taking a mild be seat. — 10 years ago

Not sure what this wine is, compared to the de la cote, but it has all the qualities of a stellar Pinot for a reasonable price — 10 years ago

Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne Chardonnay

Champagne more on the elegant if lighter style. Nice light citrusy notes, plenty of fruit - especially at mid-palate, where toasty flavors blend in nicely. Fruit falls off through the finish, but there's still a nice long aftertaste. — 11 years ago

Cuvée R Rancho Solo Grenache 2012

Fresh tarmac and cooked berry on the nose. Very focused grenache. This wine makes me aware of Monterey's potential. Very good but I'm not sure I'd pay $48 a bottle for it. — 9 years ago

Magnum 1998 Cheval Blanc. Third red for dinner at the house w B&K K, J&L B, and M&R H and BP. Awesome! So much fun to try this Bordeaux after the 2002 Domaine des Lambrays burgundy. This wine felt young, even though older than the Lambrays. A bit tight at first, despite decanting a few hours. Fun contrast of round vegetal and green noted, stronger tannins. Such a treat. Probably the fave of the night. — 10 years ago

Blanc de Noirs Premier Cru Brut Champagne Pinot Noir 2009

In a word, the 2009 vintage AR Lenoble Blanc de Noir is stunning. 100% pinot noir from the 1er Cru village of Bisseuil, 28% of which was aged in wood. This gives the wine an appealingly spice character and lusciously round body. The wine remains elegant and supple without a trace of heaviness. Baked apple, crisp acidity and vibrant berry fruit fill out the palate impression. Delicious. — 10 years ago

Sour patch kids and butter popcorn nose. The palate is velvety with pomegranate, a touch of chocolate and a figgy finish. Not as weird as its previous vintages, but still very enjoyable. Miss the massive funk though. — 9 years ago

Still lively. All the components I like in an older bubbly - some underlying fruit but also a richness provided by secondary notes of roasted nuts, butter, and toffee. Wonderful! — 10 years ago

Kallstadter Saumagen R Auslese Trocken Riesling 2008

Had a couple of looks lately; this was the lesser bottle, basically showing a little less lift and vibrancy. But it's still a pretty awesome drink - great strength of fruit, texture, tension. Tropical fruits, pebbliness with a lick of herbs - the aroma sensations are pretty stimulating on their own, but the textural dimension is what makes it for me. — 10 years ago
