Delectable I believe this is a Shiraz Cabernet blend ie Shiraz dominant - option not offered. Interestingly the Johnsons Block was planted in 1954 and is the oldest surviving Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard in Coonawarra. Presumably Shiraz since planted there as well. Red and black fruits - some mint from the Cabernet. Stalky Flavours with a peppery note coming through. Reasonably elegant - I was expecting a more full bodied wine with Lamb Shanks in an Aussie winter - but still good. Probably more body and mid palate fruit a few years ago. Finishes a little short and astringent. Drink now.

Dark crimson in colour. Very dark for a 14 year old wine. This is the last year this was released as a Shiraz/Cabernet. Now from 2014 released as a straight Cabernet Sauvignon. On nose and palate masses of raspberries. I would struggle to pick this if tasted blind. Certainly no detectable Cabernet for me. Would think some Grenache influence with those raspberries - but none. Very powerful with a long future. Johnson’s Block was planted in 1954 making it the oldest surviving Cabernet Sauvignon Vineyard in Coonawarra.
