For those who don't fear acidity. This is a brutal young and uncompromising Frankenwein from the top site of Roedelsee, a small village close to the Schwannerg. The vines root in deep yet very mineral Keuper soils and this wine here shouldn't be drunk before 2020 - except from Norwegians of course. 12.5% ABV. 2013 vintage. Sample.

Famous for his Sylvaner but the Riesling is wonderful and distinctive. Rich and unctuous with minerality that balances it out and prevents it from brim overbearing. Lovely fruit. Just a great drink.

Jan 28th, 2015Wow. Minerality leaps out on the nose. Great fruit with a fleeting hint of tropicality and lovely citrus fruits Just great Riesling minerality. Dances on the palate. Long acidic finish. All the qualities of a grosses gewachs with less amplitude ( and much cheaper of course ). A nice bit of winemaking.
