Sankt Laurent

Barn saddle leather, damp forest, wild berries, dried herbs, violets. Fairly bretty but it adds some lively mouthfeel component.

Woodsy, fruity and funky. First time for this producer that was highly recommend to me. Dig it. Well structured yet featherweight.

The red of the night for our tasting group. Every nose in the glass of different than the previous one. Brambly fruit that’s dark and like slightly underripe blackberry. Black pepper and jerky, strong texture. Gets tons of brighter black fruit with more air, but black pepper and smokiness is persistent.

Deeply perfumed fruit with a slightly candied quality on the mouthfeel. Very pretty wine. Needed a couple hours to blow off what I assume is a reductive style of winemaking.

Nice barnyard funk on the nose which gives way to bright, but confident ripe fruits. Dry, acidic and slightly carbonic finish. Just a fun, funky walk on the dark end of the street.

Wine from Eastern Austria. Recommended by K&L . A nice break from France and Italy. Good as: First bottle of the night. Was easy to start.

If you must drink Oregon Pinot Noir (why?) then at least drink something better. Here it is.

Earthy, steak and ham on the nose, very sour fruit (boysenberry) on the palette.
