@Delectable Wine this is the Weisserberg bottling. Having enjoyed the 2015s (a very different vintage) while in Berlin a few years back, I grabbed a few of these 2014s online upon returning home. The first couple bottles were underwhelming - very austere, lacking fruit and with a degree of minerality and acid that nearly stripped the enamel off my teeth. This last bottle, however, enjoyed a couple years later, suggests the wines were simply opened too young. There is now fruit here in spades - ripe orchard fruits and citrus, and a delightful green herbal character. Delightful stony minerality, and at this age some petrol is starting to develop. Acid is still providing nice structure. Nothing life changing but I’m glad I was able to see this through it’s early-mid range development.

Fell in love with the Briedeler bottling of this in Berlin, was finally able to track down this top-level Weisserberg bottling online and it did not disappoint. Ripe red and yellow apple, pear, and fresh apricot. Honeysuckle, flint, asphalt and a touch of rubber. Palate has zesty acidity that you can feel in the teeth. Medium+ finish with profound minerality, almost “hard water”-esque. Not sure this has the structure to go the distance, but I’ll certainly open another bottle in a year or two to find out.
