Vouette et Sorbée
Blanc d'Argile Extra Brut Champagne Chardonnay
Champagne, France
Had a slightly oxidative note of bitter almond suffused with nougat and brioche. Some green and red apple notes, and a bit of peach as it opened but it was definitely saline and oyster-shell and zingy. A really nice nose that seemed as half Chablis, half Champagne. Taut, lacking some of the mid palate weight, and precise to a fault, this was almost too much to drink on its own and a better food wine (unfortunately, we had an early pizza dinner with the kids, opened the bottle after, and all I’ve been eating is Cadbury Mini-Eggs for the last hour).

Latest disgorgement of the 2011 Blanc d Argiles - taste it 1 second after opening then 1 min after and look for the notes of rhubarb
