1979 vintage in magnum at the Mark's Club Veuve Clicquot dinner. Veuve Cliquot Rose Cave Privee: Rich pink peach in colour. Steady stream of very fine bubbles. Freshly cut mature strawberries on the nose are quickly followed by crushed flowers - predominantly roses. There is a very floral nature to the wine and this element really jumps out of the glass. Incredible considering its age. The wine is lacking in the mid pallet and the finish is long but somewhat angular. A delightful Champagne from a special vintage although a little disjointed. 92/100. Drink now to 2030. This magnum was disgorged in 2011.

Nov 25th, 20151997 vintage. Very fresh. No oxidation. Hints of attractive reduction. Meaty, consume soup nose. Fresh mushroom. Red fruits. On the palate, much more mineral. Savoury. Smokey. Integrated acidic. White truffle. Good concentration. Hugely enjoyable. Long finish. Superb.
