The Ojai Vineyard
Roll Ranch Vineyard Syrah

One of those great moments where you hold on to a wine praying for its promise. And then it delivers. Big time. Chocolate raspberry flavors with tons of supple tannin and rich smoke closing out with grilled meat nuances. 10 years old and yet very little sediment. I still have a bottle left. Will open in 2022 and can feel pretty good that it will still taste young.

Value of the night. $30 bucks from benchmark and in great shape. Sick graphite laden nose. Roasted cherries wrapped in tobacco leaf on the palate. Medium body. $30 bucks for f's sake!

Always a favorite. A bit hot at 15% ABV. Still could use more time in the bottle.

Jun 3rd, 2015One of my favorite producers who constantly delivers fantastic central coast syrah. However this one is just OK. Northern Rhone style wound tightly with graphite, pencil, dark fruits. A bit too much oak and a little heat bring down the rating
