This is the 2019 Chef & Winemaker Cask Aged Dry Riesling (Finger Lakes). My brother said he bought it from Ravines, so it has some connection to them obviously. Nose exhibits some new oak toast, but underneath is crisp, minerally Riesling fruit. On the palate there’s a similar progression: it’s full, with an initial whack of oak followed by lean, austere, minerally Riesling. Unique but I like its individuality.
