This is Shinn Estate's 2010 Wild Boar Doe. A well made wine that served to remind us that NY and CA wines stand alone; they are different animals. This is terroir. This wine speaks to the cool and often damp climate in the North Fork. Balanced and complex, it has a much more European profile than anything you'll find out west. I'd love to know the blend, which is the only important info missing from the labels. 14.1%

Aug 27th, 2014A relatively tannic and peppery wine that put me off when I tried to have it with salad last night. Today, it paired well with fresh pasta and a ragù bolognese but I wouldn’t reach for it first.
