@Delectable Wine : This is the Late Disgorged BdB.

My bottle as part of a bubbles lineup with a local group. Other standouts were 2008 Cristal, 2004 Dom, Krug 168, Schramsberg Reserve LD 2004, and the unanimous winner, 2004 Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Millenaire.

Lots of fun comparing this to the 2004 LD Reserve version. I’ve been fortunate to have a lot of older Schramsberg and my thoughts remain the same…JSchram with age is my preference whereas I love the Reserve young.

Super leesy. 17yrs on the lees to be exact. It sports a baked profile aromatically (baked tropical fruits), fresh lemon scone, orange marmalade, and honey roasted nuts. Rich and full-bodied on the palate with a profile reminiscent of aged Le Mesnil. Great acidity and mousse. Slight truffle flair, alongside caramel apple, baking spices, and buttered honey braid. The only note missing from this to make it a dead ringer for old champagne is limestone. Otherwise, this was gorgeous. The Reserve shows much more youth at this age as well as red berry fruit, but texturally, this can’t be beat. Drink up.

Just a beautiful sparkling wine. Lovely nose of freshly baked brioche. The palate is somewhat yeasty with definite almond tones. Worked well with Bobby Flay's 16 spice chicken.
