Quite a big, powerful wine, as you'd expect. Dark fruits, plum and spice. Soft tannins and deep long finish. I liked it. Seemed richer than the 13.5 suggests but it's Pannell and very good.

Did it pick up the vintage? 2012. Second occasion tasting this (excuse "kid-proof" tablecloth) and both times I've let out an involuntary, mirthful gasp at the way it leaps from the glass. Smells of cherry, blueberry, privet hedge and mince pie filling, right down to the orange peel. Medium bodied, silky, great penetration of super-fresh fruit and ghostly tannins - they play a key role and are plentiful and yet disappearingly dusty, their legacy a longish, fresh berry finish.
