We really like the Oakville designation of the Mondavi juice, but this vintage just fell short. It has slightly improved with age, but lacks the rich mouthfeel that we have come to expect from this producer. Finishes with a mild tartness. I did question the JJB seller hard before purchase, but he assured me that the quality was there. Buyer beware. I don't source from JJB any more.

2011 is a terribly under-rated vintage. The elegance, structure and complexity that a good producer can bring out in "poor" vintages is amazing. At first, Jalapeño poppers, moving to licorice and coffee, and even sanguine notes.. with great acid to boot! Great stuff!

Been letting this get pretty and it still has miles to go. Firm tannins with cherry, leather, vanilla and spicebox. Big and mouth filling. Has at least another 10 years.
