Riecine
Rosso Toscana Sangiovese

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two hours. The 2011 “Toscana” IGT pours a deep garnet color with a translucent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with gorgeous notes of mostly ripe, red fruit: Morello cherry, raspberry, new leather, black tea, freshly varnished fine wood, dried green herbs and dry gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long drying and grippy. Gorgeous stuff. Drink now with some patience and through 2031.

Popped and poured. I’ve been wanting to try one of these for a while and my patience finally broke. I had too many distractions while hosting to really get into taking more formal notes but I recall this bottle being open for business. Really expressive fruit with impeccable balance; an absolute delight to drink. Bottle lasted less than 15 minutes. I definitely need to carve out more time with the next one. While still quite primary now it’s very enjoyable to drink and should be just fine in a proper cellar until 2025.

This was very, very good. 100% Sangiovese, whole bunches. Great amount of fruit, sweet tannins, long finish.
